Dr. Scott Rineer, MD, MPH, CAPT MC, USN (Ret.)
Dr. Scott K. Rineer is a Tampa Bay–based emergency physician who served for decades in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine in 1990 from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) before embarking on a career that encompassed “Deep Freeze” operations in Antarctica, USN/USMC parachutist qualifications, and the Army’s expeditionary field medical badge. After a transitional internship at Naval Hospital San Diego, he completed flight surgery training at the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute (NAMI) in Pensacola, later serving as a NASA flight surgeon supporting space shuttle launches and landings. His deployments ranged from MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, to multiple WWII anniversary events across the Pacific Rim.
Dr. Rineer’s advanced clinical roles included an Emergency Medicine residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego, Tactical Emergency Medicine engagements, and leadership positions such as Senior Medical Officer aboard the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76). He further served on detachments in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Djibouti, supporting hurricane relief efforts in New Orleans. A Fellow of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Rineer holds additional training in Disaster Management and Aerospace Medicine, reflecting his commitment to improving patient care in both military and civilian settings.
